Hermes, c'est arrive! The Denver Art Museum's Ponti Hall is home to the most exquisite dislplay of Hermes combined with a demonstration on the art of printing a silk scarf. This is not just any silk scarf, Hermes has been making silk scarves since 1937 and arrived in Denver with its craftsmen from the ateliers in Lyon, France.
The Denver Art Museum's Design Council hosted a luncheon to kick off the Hermes presentation and five day installation. NorthCreek is proud to be a sponsor of the luncheon and equally proud to be home to the Hermes boutique in Colorado.
Hermes was established in 1837, by Thierry Hermes as a leather good manufacturer for the leather tack for a horse and carriage. The familiar Hermes logo speaks to the origin with a caleche... carriage, horse and a figure leading the horse, there is no passenger, the intention of Hermes is that the client/customer will lead the company in the direction it needs to go. When the company began making scarves it was synchronized with client driven needs for a suitcase or piece of luggage to be strapped to the back of the automobile, and of course the scarf was for the ladies as they were driven about "en plein air". Well, this was 1937!
Today, you can see a collection of Hermes silk scarves at the Denver Art Museum as well as the Hermes store at NorthCreek.
