Salmon-Safe is an organization that helps wineries protect rivers, streams, and other waterways that can be potentially impacted by nearby agriculture. Vineyards certified by Salmon-Safe plant cover crops around their vines, plant trees and shrubs in riparian zones, and avoid using dangerous chemicals in weed an...d pest control. Through their hard work and dedication, these vineyards protect the watershed from run-off of soil and harmful organic and petrochemical fertilizers.
One of The Vineyard’s favorite wineries, Oregon’s Tyee Wine Cellars, not only makes a number of delicious wines, but also happens to be Salmon-Safe.
Among other Salmon-Safe wines, The Vineyard carries Tyee's Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer.
