Did you ever wonder where a Venetian masque artist finds his inspiration? Look at a butterfly! It has the perfect shape for the perfect masque/mask. You can almost see the outline of the wings around the outline of the eye wings and the caterpillar body follows a vertical line similar to the bone of the nose.
Butterflies are everywhere. The new banner unveiled in downtown Denver across the street from the Convention Center has images of blue butterflies floating up to the sky. The Mask Project is an annual fund raising benefit for Hospice, many of the masks are located near the entrance to Neiman Marcus. Look for the blue butterfly while you are there.
