The buzz around Denver is the approval of the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District's plan by the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association. The CCNA Board announced that out of 328 votes 170 approved and 158 opposed. The approval was 51.8%.
The CCNNA Board and BID have negotiated an alternative Fillmore Plaza design that allows a street though the plaza but preserves a more pedestrian plaza design for the center and north end of Fillmore Plaza. The center and north end features in the alternative design include no vehicular parking, no curbs, a flat level surface and enhanced pedestrian amenities. The plan also calls for periodic street closures for events. As Cherry Creek North phases down on the "face-lift" the new plaza design will add the finishing touch.
